Where Are They Now: Amazing Dream
17 Sep 2025
From the moment she stepped on the track in New Zealand, Amazing Dream stood out as something special. The brilliant daughter of Bettor’s Delight became the first filly since Rippers Delight (1975) to win the rare Great Northern Oaks/Great Northern Derby double, and went on to claim 10 Group One victories across Australasia and North America.
After conquering the Southern Hemisphere, she crossed the Pacific and proved herself again, winning major mares events including the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series Final at Yonkers in 2023. Now, Amazing Dream N is writing a new chapter as a broodmare at Kountry Lane Standardbreds in Indiana — the 77-acre showpiece operation of Amish cabinetry magnate Ola Yoder.
Duane Miller, the farm’s long-time manager, says she has slotted seamlessly into their elite band of mares, which includes Shartin N, Lyons Sentinel, and Plunge Blue Chip.
“She’s in the field with seven other mares… there’s quite a few nice mares out with her, but she blends right in and does her thing pretty class in there. She holds her own at the feeder, but she doesn’t bother the others — she’s real nice to have around,” he says.
This season Amazing Dream N produced her first foal, a colt by Bulldog Hanover.
“Nice colt — nice classy individual. He’s definitely a standout in the group. You walk through there and you’ll ask ‘who’s that little guy’… he has a good presence to him. You can definitely see the mare’s traits in him,” Miller says.
The colt is earmarked for one of the premier yearling sales in 2026, likely Lexington or Harrisburg.
She is already back in foal to Downbytheseaside, and Miller believes her pedigree and racetrack record will hold real appeal to North American buyers.
“She wasn’t your average mare — she’s way above average in our book. I do think she’ll get the looks at the sale. If Bulldog’s doing well by then, I don’t think they’ll shy away from her just because she’s New Zealand-bred,” he says.
Kountry Lane Standardbreds itself has become one of the most ambitious young breeding operations in the U.S., with six stallions on the books including King Of The North and Temporal Hanover.
Miller oversees 32 broodmares, 15 yearlings and 18 foals, and this year alone they will present 15 yearlings across the Lexington, Harrisburg and Midwest sales.
“We’re still trying to get our footing, but we had a good summer… a filly paced in 1:50 which is the second fastest two-year-old filly in the country this year. It’s starting to get people’s attention — I think we’re definitely holding our own,” he says.
For Miller, working alongside his son Ryan on the farm adds to the satisfaction of seeing mares like Amazing Dream N beginning their second careers. The farm’s growing profile in the yearling marketplace mirrors the trajectory of its bloodstock.
“You walk out in the field and they’re sharing it with Amazing Dream, Lyons Sentinel, Plunge Blue Chip… the list goes on. They’re all pretty nice,” Miller smiles.
Amazing Dream N may have left New Zealand, but her story is far from finished — and the next chapter could be her most exciting yet.
