A non profit that works for you
The NZSBA is an incorporated society, not a business. No shareholders, no dividends, no one taking a clip. Every dollar of subscription and sponsorship goes back into the breeding sector, and the people making the decisions are breeders themselves.
We are Harness Racing New Zealand's partner on everything to do with breeding. When the schemes that shape breeding decisions are designed and reviewed, Harness 5000, Paddock to Podium, Silk Road and the Fillies and Mares Breeding Credit Scheme, we are at the table representing the people who produce the horses.
Every breeder, the commercial stud serving hundreds and the person with one mare in the back paddock alike, with no agenda beyond theirs. Our focus is certainty, so you can plan a mating this spring with a clear picture of what that foal will be racing for as a three year old.
None of that carries weight without numbers behind it. Your subscription funds the publications, the data and the tools. Your name on the roll is what makes the argument hard to ignore.

Our own platform for buying, selling and leasing breeding stock, live to members shortly. Broodmares, weanlings and yearlings, for sale, for lease or free of charge. Zero commission, no middleman, and your own contact details on every listing so the buyer talks straight to you.

Crosses of Gold
An interactive tool covering New Zealand, North American and Australian data. Click any stallion to see it crossed over every broodmare sire, then click a cross for the full detail.
Foals, winners, sub two minute performers, earnings per foal and earnings per starter with the top earner stripped out, so one freak does not flatter a cross. Every cross carries a reliability tier.
Pedigree test matings
Match any stallion in the Stallion Register against any mare registered with HRNZ and get the full pedigree back in seconds, five generations deep, every duplicated ancestor colour coded and the inbreeding notation set out underneath.
When the Australian selector lost access to New Zealand pedigree data, most stallions advertised here became untestable against your mare. We built the replacement ourselves.
Coming mid September: the members app
Everything a membership gives you, in one place on your phone. Your membership card and every partner discount, ready at the counter without hunting for a code. A dedicated space for foster mare and foal alerts, so an urgent match can be made in hours instead of days. Breeders' News, Crosses of Gold and your BredEX listings, all behind a single login.
The discount side is about to get considerably bigger, taking members from the current 50 plus retailers to more than 100 nationwide. The app is where it lands first.
Breeding Matters, in print, to your letterbox
Four issues a year, three of them members only, printed and posted to you. Stallion features, stud and breeder profiles, sales analysis, welfare and science, and the industry reporting you will not find anywhere else.
Members also receive the annual Register of Standardbred Stallions in late July, and 52 issues of Breeders' News by email.
The part that pays for itself
Every member gets a card giving access to 1Team partner discounts at more than 50 retailers nationwide, and that network is on its way past 100. Fuel, farm supplies, tools, tyres, accommodation, all the ordinary spending a breeding operation does anyway.
