Paddock to Podium – How to Track Your Credits
2 Apr 2026
HRNZ’s Paddock to Podium breeding credits tracker is now live, giving breeders direct visibility of the credits they have earned from raceday performance.
By logging into MY HRNZ, breeders can access the Racing folder to view credits earned from horses that have raced since January 1, 2026.
“It is outstanding to see this coming to life as it will be a critical engagement and interactive tool for our investors,” said HRNZ Chief Executive Brad Steele.
“The Paddock to Podium portal allows breeders to clearly track how their funds are building and make more informed, timely breeding decisions.”
The scheme, launched in September last year, has seen credits accrue from January 1, 2026.
Under the initiative, breeders receive a 5% credit of all prizemoney earned by NZ-foaled 2YO to 6YO horses finishing 1st to 4th in races in New Zealand, excluding Group and Listed races. For Group and Listed races, $1,000 is distributed among the breeders of horses finishing 1st to 5th.
“It’s incredibly encouraging to see initiatives like these, the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere,” said NZSBA Executive Manager Brad Reid.
As at March 31, a total of $350,000 in credits has been allocated to breeders.
Breeders can view credits at both an individual horse level and based on their ownership percentage within the breeding entity. The platform also allows users to drill down into credits earned on a per-race basis.
Credits earned through the scheme can be applied directly to stallion service fees and semen transport costs incurred after August 1, 2026.
“On the back of what we’ve achieved in stabilising breeding numbers this year, it has the potential to play a major role in helping us build upward momentum,” Reid added.
HRNZ has committed to the scheme annually for the next five years, subject to financial conditions.
“It’s about delivering convenience, clarity, and a more connected, positive experience for our participants,” said Steele.
Details on how to submit claims through the Paddock to Podium system will be released shortly.
